Instead of just simple previews of sites, Snap needs to take the visualization of search results one step further. Consider this - every time a common word is entered into a search engine today, it would take almost an hour just get a rough idea of the results you got and somehow triage them in order of importance. What we need are innovative maps depicting the search results in one page - one interface. Now let's get to the marketing idea: Develop numerous beta version visualization techniques and have users vote on visualization features they like best. When the time comes to roll out Snap.com, give them their top ten visualization technologies (i.e. - allow users to visualize results in different ways online). For further mass appeal, allow the export of searched data into common formats such as Excel. If I pull up a visualization of all the links between pages that say "Excel" and it is color-coded according to relevance to the search term, like a topo map is to elevation, then somehow that underlying data should be able to be saved by the user (any user). So there it is - give me new search result visualizations - we are in desperate need of not one, but MULTIPLE, choices in this arena. |
