SNAP.COM ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF
“THE OTHER WAY TO LAUNCH” CONTEST

PASADENA, CA – July 6, 2006 – Snap.com, a new search engine that provides users with a unique and more efficient way to view and interact with search results, today announced GeekWorks Unlimited as the winners of its “The Other Way to Launch” contest and will receive the $5,000 grand prize. The contest, which was launched last month in conjunction with the unveiling of the new Snap.com search engine, received an overwhelming response with 170+ ideas from 30,000 visitors. In total, the ideas generated 3,000+ votes and more than 1000 bloggers wrote about Snap and linked to the contest. GeekWorks’ winning idea, entitled “Pay Per Click Credits,” received 670 votes. The winners were announced in a video presentation that was posted to the Snap.com blog, located at http://blog.snap.com

“I came into the office one morning and told everyone to check out Snap.com – and the reaction from everyone was amazing,” said Pat Albert, Owner of GeekWorks Unlimited. “Snap’s unique approach to search was refreshing and we were excited for the opportunity to not only submit our ideas of how to launch a new search engine, but also to actually have those ideas heard and validated. We’re thrilled to have won and honored that our idea was chosen from such a high quality group of ideas.”

“We’d like to congratulate the GeekWorks team,” said Tom McGovern, CEO of Snap.com. “The response to the contest – and to Snap – has been fantastic and we wish to thank everyone for the amazing idea submissions and feedback.”

Faced with somewhat daunting objectives of driving traffic to Snap, launching the new brand, capturing market share from companies like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, and doing it with a launch budget that pales in comparison, “The Other Way to Launch” contest was born. What Snap came up with was a collaborative, blogosphere-focused “help-usplan- our-launch” event. Snap.com developed a digg.com-style peer based voting system and allowed the blog’s users to select the best idea by submitting their own votes.

The Snap.com search engine rethinks search for today’s users and capitalizes on the broadband capabilities available to most searchers by delivering a rich user experience. That experience surpasses the traditional search results display format by adding web page previews corresponding with the text results for each query. Through this change in the search result display paradigm, Snap.com puts an end to the trial and error nature of clicking through search results to see which one actually links to the site or information the user is seeking. Snap.com also benefits advertisers with a cost-peraction (CPA) business model that ensures that they only pay for customers who complete a transaction, not just hop in and out of advertisers’ web sites. The result for both frequent searchers and advertisers is a dramatically improved search experience.
