As of yesterday evening Snap published some improvements to our Snap Preview Anywhere product that I wanted to share with you all… These are all automatically available to anyone using the snippet of javascript without any updating… Just reload your page and you should be good! • We increased the dimensions/size of the sites preview images by about 10-12%, this allows a bit more to be previewed as well as a much more detail/clarity in the content and text on the site (improving a users judgment on clicking to the site being linked). We saw some comments from users that the size was an issue, but we did not want to take over ones screen real estate, so we looked at a number of image sizes before we made a decision. • We implemented a 'Smart' image crawler which, once a user signs up, looks at the links on the page(s) of the site using Snap Preview Anywhere, if we do not have an image for a link, we automatically capture it. SO… no more manually hovering over links to add them to the image queue! Note: In order to guarantee the images are properly captured, make sure the URL that you enter upon sign is the page where the javascript code is located. ON a couple of occasions people have signed up with one URL and pasted the code in another, this does not work 100% of the time. • We added more control over which links will or will not exhibit the Snap Preview behavior. Just take a look at our FAQ and you will be able to grab any of the CSS code tweaks neeeded. We are constantly reading feedback, posts on blogs, comments, and just keeping our eyes and ears open to the public on how we can improve the product… SO keep your thoughts coming! Thanks again for your support! Jason Fields |

I installed SPA on my new site BlogHorizon (www.bloghorizon.com) ranking the french blogosphere according to various data sources (Technorati, Alexa, Feeburner)
It's a great added value to my mashup : see http://www.bloghorizon.com/2006/11/19/blog-horizon-1-19-novembre-2006-classement-technorati-des-meilleurs-blogs-francophones/
thanks!

Great Product! Love the changes, keep up the good work!
Thanks

How long does it take for the previews to regenerate if for some reason the server was unreachable during the first attempt to generate a preview for a site? I have a couple of image previews on my site that are white screens and wanted to know if there was anything I needed to do.
I use it for the list of web links of hobby rocketry sites.

Jason,
I did not catch what you wrote as comment in my blog at http://www.bloghorizon.com/2006/11/19/blog-horizon-1-19-novembre-2006-classement-technorati-des-meilleurs-blogs-francophones/
The automatic translation is not so good…
Can you please come back again and write it again in English so that I can understand what you mean?
Thanks by advance

I really like this feature. However, I'd need to test this on my development machine and make sure things are working before deploying to our staging and production environment. I can't seem to generate a development key for localhost (which is where my laptop dev machine runs). How can I create a key for use only in development?
What is the update pace of the snapshots ? Some snapshots are still the same as those I got when I implemented Snap a week ago, and web sites have changed a couple of times since.
